Message from your District Leadership!

Welcome to October in Southern California! It's great when the weather starts to turn a little cooler and the eucalyptus trees start to change color. Here are a few signs that you know So. Cal. fall is upon us:

  1. - You begin pulling the thinnest of sweaters out of your closet,  only to put it back on its hanger - "What do I think it is, Christmas?!"
  2. - Static electricity begins to return to fresh laundry.
  3. - The race begins - which will our children pick up more of: math concepts or cold viruses?
  4. - The hipsters begin to come out of hiding for their non-fat, soy pumpkin spice lattes. It's a magical time of year.

In the midst of our changing seasons and schedules, let us always remember our God, and the call of our God upon our lives, remains the same. May we be faithful through the Spirit to the ever-faithful One.

And, just as the house built upon sand in Matthew 7, may your fall be great.

pastor Runion and Mission Church

It is with deepest sympathy that we announce the passing of Norma Runion, wife of David Runion - Senior Pastor of Mission Church in San Diego. In the words of the Apostle Paul, Norma has fought the good fight, kept the faith, and finished her course. To God be the glory! A memorial service was held on Saturday, Sept. 26th, but please continue to keep Pastor Runion, his family, and the church body at Mission Church of the Nazarene in your prayers.

In moments like this, we recognize the wonder of God's love as we celebrate the life of a woman who has touched all of our hearts.

Teen Quizzing

The next District Teen Quizzing event is the 11th annual San Diego Invitational on October 24, 8:30 am at Mission Church of the Nazarene. This is a great event to attend if you are considering starting a quiz team. Our quizzing material will be over the Book of Galatians.

Dynamic Church PLanting International

Starting a new church is the single best method of evangelism. A new, culturally-specific or affinity-group church can make in-roads into a group that the sponsor church never could. Just as new believers bring new spirit and life to an existing congregation, new churches beathe new life into our denomination. Dynamic Church Planting International subscribes to the motto: "All kinds of churches for all kinds of poeple," and have arranged their resources accordingly.  This is your invitation to take part in an event that can reach new lives for the kingdom. On November 16-19 we will be hosting seminars on church planting at Mission Church of the Nazarene. The cost will be $35. Three tracks will be offered: CPE (Church Planting Essentials), CPC (Churches Planting Churches) and CT (Certified Trainer) - all in English and Spanish. More information will be provided on our district website as it becomes available.

Monthly Reporting

Pastors, please remember that the district needs your monthly church stats reported here. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated as it allows your D. S. to minister more effectively throughout the district. Further, it brings him great joy to be thought of as "Big Brother."
