Blythe Church of the Nazarene

This year was another good one in the life of our church.  We feel blessed that we are growing, but also because we are beginning to have a greater impact in the community.  We have been praying for several years that God would help us build our children's department, and He has been faithful to hear us.  We have grown rapidly in our children's ministry over the last few years, and have begun praying that God will help us to build our teen ministry.  We are excited about the teens and also the young families who have begun attending our church in recent years.  God has been faithful to involve them in ministry, and our church is continuing to grow and reach new people.  Our locally licensed minister, Todd Warren, is continuing to work through the licensing and education process.  We also had fun participating in some mixed worship services with churches from other denominations in the community; in particular, a Good Friday service was very successful.

For a year or so, we had cancelled our Wednesday night Bible study because we were short on attendees. However, this is our 3rd year after starting it up again, and we have a good group of all ages. With the adults, we have been working through spiritual gifts testing and have helped some people to find their place of service within God’s kingdom.

Our church consistently participates in a ministry to feed the homeless once a month. We have plans to expand this ministry to twice a month and would love to build or operate a homeless shelter in the future.

Our Sunday evening service has been well-attended this last year. We have been studying the book of Revelation with great discussions; several people have expressed a desire to get more in touch with God’s word.

Finally, Vacation Bible School is a big outreach for us; we had over 100 children attend at least one of the five days and three new families have begun attending our church through the outreach of our VBS.

Future Plans

  1. We want to improve our teen department.
  2. We want to focus on men's ministries (we have begun a men’s bible study and fellowship).
  3. We would like to add a fellowship hall or multipurpose building.
  4. We would like to reach out more into the community, outside the walls of our church (e.g., prison ministry).
