Highland Community Cross Church of the Nazarene

The past church year has been an exciting time for Highland Community Cross. We have witnessed Jesus’ love and leading in every area of ministry as we continue to live out the verse from our Vision Statement “Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with action and in truth.” (1 John 3:18)

All ministries were active and growing over the past year with both outreach, fellowship and spiritual growth as their core mission. We continue to reach out to the community with food, clothes, a Free Clinic, Vacation Bible School, Angel Tree Christmas event for children who have parents in prison, Harvest Festival, Highland Citrus Festival, and opening up the campus for community events and voting. Our recovery ministries meet three times a week with a goal of having meetings six days a week in the near future.

We are raising funds for a playground, community garden, and outdoor meeting area on the church campus, which will give us more room for our ministries and fellowship. We continue to work on this one hundred and thirty year old church campus to make it a light in this community in need of Jesus.

As God blesses us, we too must bless others. We have given our time, talent, and treasure in furthering The Great Commission. All budgets have been paid for the church year. We have been privileged to have those ministering in a mission field as close as across the street from our church and as far away as Okinawa, Japan. We are pleased to report that Pastor Bonita Burgess will be back with us from Okinawa for this District Assembly.

In the last year, we have become one church in three languages! We have services in English, Spanish, and Samoan with the addition of the San Bernardino Samoan Church on the campus. We had such a blessed resurrection Sunday Service with all tree congregations’ worshiping together; we surely “Rocked the House”.

As we come to this 2016 Southern California District Assembly, we remember all those who have come before us and look forward to the challenges and blessings of this New Year. May we continue to put our faith in our Loving Father, follow our Lord and Savior, and allow the Holy Spirit to help us to live out our faith, be the men and women of God that we have been called to be!! Amen.
