Menifee Valley Community Church of the Nazarene

We are grateful to God for allowing us the opportunity to participate in advancing His kingdom and doing so through the Church of the Nazarene. We are grateful for the support and opportunities afforded us through the District and General Church.

We do not believe you can improve on the mission of the General Church of the Nazarene to “Make Christlike Disciples in the Nations”, so we too claim that as our Purpose Statement. We take Jesus’ command to “go and make disciples of all nations” as our “Purpose”. We break that down into “Locally”, “Regionally” and “Internationally” in order to balance and evaluate our efforts. In order to monitor and keep ourselves accountable to our “Purpose,” we revised and simplified our “Process Statement” this year and refined it as, “Reach Out - Receive In - Raise Up”. We are now organizing our energy and planning around those three criteria:

LOCALLY, we focus on “Reaching Out” to our community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This year we had the opportunity to launch a Spanish congregation under the leadership of Pastor Melvin and Karina Segura. They are a blessing to our congregation and has brought some energy that was greatly needed. We are in the “Receiving In” process” of introducing the new Congregation to the Church of the Nazarene through membership classes. We continue the “Raising Up” of those who are regular attenders through Sunday messages, Sunday School, Ladies’ and Men’s Retreats, mid-week group studies, daily devotions and fellowship times.

We extend ourselves beyond our walls by involving ourselves in our community by joining with other evangelical churches for prayer, invocations at the school board meetings, Sunday Serve, where we closed our doors and served the community during normal church hours. We respond to the homeless needs of our community by putting together backpacks with blankets, grooming items, and Bibles to hand out as needed. We are schedule to be a part of the Independents Parade, to promote this years VBS Program.

REGIONALLY, my wife and I serve on the District NMI council as secretary and Work & Witness coordinator. I also serve on the Credentials Board, and help to plan the District Men’s Retreat. I am on the board of “True Shepherd Ministry” which is a 10% approved Compassionate Ministry out of Southern California for Jean-Rabel, Haiti. Our church planned and participated in a District Work & Witness Trip to the Tecate Nazarene Seminary this past April. Our District Budgets are paid in full. We love the people of the Southern California District and do whatever we can to support District ministries. Our prayers are with Pastor Tom and Debbie Taylor and their leadership of our District.

INTERNATIONALLY, we support the global ministry with 100% of our WEF and P&B paid. Also, as District Work & Witness Coordinator, I led three teams, during the month of November, to Haiti and am planning for additional teams for this year. We pray for our General Superintendents and the leadership of our denomination.

We thank the Lord for gracing us with a loving congregation and a wonderful Nazarene church family that increases as years go by.
